Our Coffee Fellowship coffee

We serve coffee, tea, punch and biscuits in the Gymnasium immediately following the Sunday morning service. The coffee fellowship is hosted by volunteers and we require two people per Sunday.

Instructions for Coffee Fellowship Hosts

  • Please bring with you two litres of homo or 2% milk. Instructions are on the fridge door and supplies are in the lower cabinet beside the fridge.
  • Arrive by 10:00am to allow time for the preparation.
  • You will need the following supplies:
    • 65 mugs or cups and saucers (in cupboards at far end)
    • plastic glasses for punch (in cupboards above the dishwasher)
    • punch bowl (lower corner cupboard at far end)
    • 2 teapots
    • 1 large coffee percolator (in cupboard beneath counter in the northeast corner)
    • 2 electric kettles or large stove-top kettle.
  • Set up one table near the kitchen hatch for coffee and tea and one table for punch. Use table cloths found in the kitchen drawers.
  • Set out on one table 65 mugs or cups and saucers, a few serviettes, tray of spoons, 2 sugar bowls, and a plate of cookies.
  • Set out on punch table a tray of plastic glasses, and a plate of cookies.
  • Fill percolator with cold water to the 55 cup mark, add 3 cups (227 grams) of coffee and plug it in and flick the ON switch before you go in to the service. It takes 3/4 hour.
  • Fill large kettle with water and put it on stove at heat level 4. It should come to a boil during the service.
  • Please dilute 2 tins of frozen punch or lemonade (found in the freezer) into a punch bowl. For each tin of punch add 4 tins of cold water. Place punch in fridge until service ends.
  • Place out a few chairs so anyone who wishes can sit.
  • Leave the service before the last hymn. Make 2 pots of tea (3 bags per pot).
  • Remove grounds from coffee urn and pour coffee into yellow carafes.
  • Put out the punch and small pitchers of milk.
  • Pour tea and coffee.
  • When all have been served clean up and put everything away. Instructions for the dishwasher are inside a cabinet door above it. If the table cloths or tea towels are soiled, please take them home, wash them and return them to the kitchen.
