Ecumenical Events 2007 Week of Prayer for Christian Unity On Sunday, January 21, 2007 we had a joint worship with communion following the Presbyterian Liturgy at Leaside United Church at 10:30 a.m. This was followed by a lunch and a time of fellowship. Participating churches were St. Augustine of Canterbury Anglican, Leaside Presbyterian, Leaside United and Northlea United. Study groups are scheduled on four Tuesdays with dinner at 5:00pm followed by Bible Study from 6:00 to 7:00pm: Jan. 23 Leaside Presbyterian Mark 7:31-37 Jan. 30 St. Augustine of Canterbury Matthew 25:31-46 (41-46) Feb. 6 Leaside United Isaiah 53:1-5 Feb. 13 Northlea United Luke 24:44-52 We will have an exchange of pulpits at regular worship in February. World Day of Prayer Friday, March 2, 2007 at 2:00pm Theme: United Under God's Tent written by the women of Paraguay at St Anselm's Roman Catholic Church Ecumenical Food Drive 2007 The 36th Annual Ecumenical Food Drive will take place on Saturdays, November 17th and 24th. Ten churches participate and the thousands of food items collected are a vital supply for downtown service organizations; Toronto Christian Resource Centre, Evangel Hall, St Vincent de Paul and St. Peter's. Inter-faith We have held joint Remembrance Services with Temple Sinai and have participated with them in some educational events. An interfaith symposium will be held at Leaside United Church on Tuesday, Nov. 27 from 7:30 to 9:30pm. The topic is Religion and Social Peace: What do World Religions Say? Muslim, Jewish, and Christian points of view will be heard, followed by a question and answer panel discussion. Admission is free and refreshments will be served. The event is sponsored by the Canadian Centre for Diversity with support from the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, Temple Sinai, and Leaside United Church.
